Safe Teaching Practices
What will you find in this repository?
This repository contains practices (lesson and reflection templates, the Teacher’s Workbook) from teachers across Europe. Practices are the result of teachers systematising, observing, engaging in conversations with colleagues and reflecting on their teaching with a focus on relational safety. The intention is that teachers assess their classroom and school dynamics through a Safe Teaching lens, and suggest improvements which may help increase school engagement and reduce the risk of dropping out.
Each practice consists of 3 parts:
- Context and description of the lesson observed.
- Analysis of strengths, areas for improvement, needs and proposed actions to improve Safe Teaching, both in the classroom and at school level.
- Thoughts on the process followed.
IMPORTANT! The practices from the teachers who participated in qualitative research under the framework of the Let’s Care project have a different structure to the template we now provide to submit practices (the Teacher’s Workbook).
Why should you read and contribute practices?
- Gain insights into the similarities and differences between your context and experiences and those of other teachers around Europe. You may be surprised.
- Learn from other teachers’ expertise and obtain ideas from the actions that they suggest to improve Safe Teaching in their classrooms and schools. Some may be relevant to your context.
- It will help you to reflect on how particular teaching strategies and school culture impact Safe Teaching.
