Objectives
The guide provides a series of recommendations to enable specific attention to foreign students
with a lack of knowledge of the Spanish language or with serious deficiencies in basic knowledge and to facilitate their incorporation and shorten the period of integration into the Spanish Education System.
Methodology
The Aulas de Enlace are educational spaces created to meet the specific needs of foreign students who have recently arrived in Spain. The main objective of these classrooms is to facilitate the integration of students into the Spanish education system by providing them with linguistic and academic support.
The general purpose of the report presented here is to learn about and analyse the functioning of the liaison classrooms in Madrid. To this end, a multi-method design is followed using both qualitative and quantitative techniques. The population under study in this research is made up of the 230 liaison classrooms in the Community of Madrid during the 2006-07 academic year. The design establishes three distinct phases: in the first - extensive - quantitative information is collected by means of a questionnaire sent to all teachers working in the liaison classrooms. The report seeks to obtain detailed information on various aspects related to the liaison classrooms, including their organisation, the methodologies used, the resources available and the results obtained.

Enablers
The document does not provide an explicit list of the facilitators that the bridging classrooms have in their implementation. However, some features shared by these classrooms are mentioned, such as their intermediate, open, intensive and flexible character. In addition, it is indicated that the main objective of the Aulas de Enlace is to facilitate the integration of foreign students who have recently arrived in the Spanish education system by providing them with linguistic and academic support. With regard to the resources available for the liaison classrooms, the document mentions that the vast majority of these classrooms cover the places established by the regulations and that more than a quarter exceed this ratio.
Barriers
The document mentions some barriers faced in the implementation of the CLCs. For example, it indicates that there is a mismatch between the supply of places and the real needs of foreign students who have recently arrived in the Spanish education system. Furthermore, it is pointed out that there is no proven and valid model for initially assessing the curricular levels of the students in the liaison classrooms, which hinders the teaching and learning process due to the students' lack of knowledge of the Spanish language. However, the document does not provide an exhaustive list of all the barriers faced by CLILs in their implementation.
Grade of linkage with the Safe Education Model
Aulas de Enlace can have a positive impact on the integration of newly arrived foreign students into the Spanish education system, which could contribute to improving their emotional well-being and sense of belonging in the classroom. Furthermore, by providing linguistic and academic support to these students, Aulas de Enlace could help them develop social and emotional skills that enable them to establish positive relationships with their peers and teachers. In this sense, it could be argued that Aulas de Enlace could indirectly contribute to attachment and bonding work in the classroom by facilitating the social and academic integration of foreign students.
Grade of linkage with the purpose of Let's Care
The main objective of these classrooms is to facilitate the integration of newly arrived foreign students into the Spanish education system by providing them with linguistic and academic support. By improving the ability of these students to understand and participate in the educational process, Aulas de Enlace may indirectly contribute to reducing the risk of school failure and/or early school dropout. In addition, it is noted that some research has pointed to the positive effect of Aulas de Enlace on immigrant students' Spanish language learning, which could improve their overall academic performance.
Grade of evidence about impact and political relevance
As of 2018, 80 Aulas de Enlace were operational in the Community of Madrid. These are a measure implemented by the Spanish education system to address the challenges associated with cultural and linguistic diversity in schools. By providing specific support to newly arrived foreign students, these classrooms contribute to improving their social and academic integration, which could have a positive impact on social cohesion and equal educational opportunities.

Reproducibility
Aulas de Enlace is a replicable educational model that has proven its effectiveness in different contexts. Successful replication requires a legislative framework and institutional support, as well as specialised teacher training and the availability of adequate resources and materials. Inter-institutional collaboration between schools, educational institutions and related organisations is also essential. There is a need to continuously evaluate and improve the performance of Aulas de Enlace through data collection and feedback from students and teachers. If these elements are taken into account and adapted to the specific needs of each context, Aulas de Enlace can be successfully implemented in different regions and education systems, facilitating the integration of foreign students and promoting their academic success.
