Agricultural Skills Laboratory, for an Individualized PCTO Project

Within the European project Erasmus + No barrier to employment for disabled boys and girls, approved by the European Knowledge Hub schools network – IC Bosco Chiesanuova and within the new legislative provisions issued in recent years which have merged into legislative decree 13 April 2017, n. 66, containing: «Regulations for the promotion of scholastic inclusion of students with disabilities», as well as Ministerial Decree no. 328 of 22 December 2022 (“Guidelines for Orientation”), the provincial services of the Autism and Behavioural Disorders Desk of the IC Vigasio Inclusion Hub School for the province of Verona in collaboration with the Hub  are organizing the following provincial training course for young people of secondary school:

General and specific objectives of the horticultural path

  • Enhancement of socialization skills and the spirit of collaboration 
  • Acquisition and enhancement of basic skills and personal autonomy 
  • Enhancement of operational autonomy 
  • Promotion of actions that improve self-esteem and self-awareness 
  • Enhancement of skills involving motor skills purposes 
  • Acquisition and strengthening of confidence in one’s own abilities 
  • Knowing how to identify the risks and dangers of working in the greenhouse and in the vegetable garden

  • Knowing how to identify the crop species to grow based on the sowing period

  • Knowing how to orient yourself inside a greenhouse

  • Recognizing a flowering plant from an arboreal plant and a fruit plant

BUTTAPIETRA HEADQUARTERS – course for a group of 8 – 10 children with mild disabilities

  1. FIRST MEETING 16/03/2024 8.30 am to 1.30 pm – safety in the greenhouse, in the vegetable garden and in the laboratory, with ongoing assessment: identification of the risks and dangers of the greenhouse, the vegetable garden and a technical laboratory, with a view of the useful protection for the operator.
  2. SECOND MEETING 03/24/2024 8.30 am to 1.30 pm – activities in the greenhouse and vegetable garden: arrangement and maintenance of the soil and plants, with planting activities, irrigation, arrangement of plants; collection and arrangement of products: packaging of small plants
  3. THIRD MEETING 04/06/2024 8.30 am to 1.30 pm – activities in the greenhouse and in the vegetable garden: arrangement and maintenance of the soil and plants, with planting activities, irrigation, arrangement of the plants; collection and arrangement of products: packaging of small plants
  4. FOURTH MEETING 13/04/2024 8.30 am to 1.30 pm – activities in the greenhouse and in the vegetable garden: arrangement and maintenance of the soil and plants, with planting activities, irrigation, arrangement of the plants; collection and arrangement of products: packaging of small plants

VILLAFRANCA OFFICE – course for a group of 4 – 5 young people with severe disabilities

  1. FIRST MEETING15/03/2024 8.30 am to 1.30 pm – safety in the greenhouse, in the vegetable garden and in the laboratory, with ongoing assessment: identification of the risks and dangers of the greenhouse, the vegetable garden and a technical laboratory, with a view of the useful protection for the operator.
  2. SECOND MEETING03/22/2024 8.30 am to 1.30 pm – activities in the greenhouse and in the vegetable garden: research and cataloguing of the plants present in the greenhouse and in the vegetable garden; production of information signs of the plant present, especially in the vegetable garden, containing the main characteristics of the plant in question
  3. THIRD MEETING04/05/2024 8.30 am to 1.30 pm – activities in the greenhouse and in the vegetable garden: arrangement and maintenance of the soil and plants, with planting activities, irrigation, arrangement of the plants; collection and arrangement of products: packaging of small plants
  4. FOURTH MEETING12/04/2024 8.30 am to 1.30 pm – activities in the greenhouse and in the vegetable garden: arrangement and maintenance of the soil and plants, with planting activities, irrigation, arrangement of the plants; collection and arrangement of products: packaging of small plants

USE OF NEW TECHNOLOGIES, IT EQUIPMENT, NETWORKING

PC workstations will be available for safety training, which will be carried out in the first meeting, in a dialogue and interactive manner, in order to allow students to participate more actively and to the evaluation. Furthermore, again using the PC, the boys and girls will be able to prepare a small logbook of the activities carried out.

CERTIFICATION/ATTESTATION METHODS OF THE SKILLS ACHIEVED

There will be a final test for the initial safety assessment and a final evaluation by the school, through questionnaires which will then be sent to the external tutor. Finally, a self-evaluation questionnaire is planned for male and female students.
